Bell Bottom, starring Akshay Kumar, released in the shadow of the Corona epidemic, is the biggest movie of the year. Rather than bring the multi-star spy thriller drama to OTT, the creators had made the risky decision to show it in the theater itself. That too in an environment where the largest commercial circuit of Hindi cinema was closed in Mumbai. There was also an epidemic in some other parts of the country and movie theaters have yet to open. Despite this, it was a bold decision to launch Bell Bottom with a 50 percent audience capacity. However, after the release, both positive and negative things were seen at the box office.
The good news for Bell Bottom is that, driven by the spirit of ‘nationalism’, Akshay’s masala animator has set a benchmark at the box office despite the odds. Bell Bottom is currently the grossest Bollywood movie of 2021. The movie, which opened on August 19, has spent 15 days at the box office. Trade reports estimate that around Rs 26.50 crore has been earned so far. This means that Bell Bottom has beaten Rajkummar Rao’s horror comedy drama Roohi, released this year. Roohi’s lifetime collection was Rs 23.25 crore and she was at number one.
Although the collection figures are small, its importance cannot be denied during the pandemic. Theaters that were closed in the first phase of the 2020 pandemic opened in March of this year. Roohi was the first film to be released in theaters. Based on the condition, it can be said that the film business is fine. After Roohi, John Abraham’s Mumbai Saga also ranked third with a collection of over Rs 16 million. Although apart from the three films, many small and medium budget films were also released, but their collection is not remarkable. They may need to be released on limited screens.
Box office different than expected, but Akshay’s movie is not at a loss
The second wave of the pandemic engulfed the entire country before the Bollywood film series began to advance at the box office in March. Theaters had to close again. The launch of Bell Bottom last month has once again kicked off the rollout. The content of the movie was entertaining. Along with the critics, the public also gave a tremendous response. But the effect of good word of mouth and the festive atmosphere of Independence Day, Muharram, Raksha Bandhan was not seen as expected at the box office. However, many reports clearly indicate that Bellbottom is not yet suffering losses from a business point of view. A huge amount has been charged for digital and satellite rights. If you look at other movies besides Bell Bottom, then it can be understood that whatever the Akshay movie collection is, what is its meaning.
Take a look at the collection from the 11th
After the Akshay movie last month came the Amitabh Bachchan Emraan Hashmi thriller Chehre. Chehre’s content was praised, but the film received very disappointing reviews at the box office. The film, which opened on August 27, is estimated to have earned just Rs 3.50 million in the first week. Due to poor performance, multiplexes also reduced face shows. While at this time the audience is still heading to theaters to see Bell Bottom. Compared to Chehre or other movies’ earnings, Akshay’s movie business looks good even after two weeks. There were only two occasions in the first 13 days that the film grossed less than a crore. While the collection on the 11th is surprising. According to the Bollywood Hungama collection report, Bell Bottom made a 2.46 lakhs deal on the eleventh day. This is only slightly less than the opening day of trading (2.75 crore rupees).
Bell Bottom’s good average collection is a clear indication that the movie will continue to slowly earn. And Hollywood’s Godzilla Versus Kang can make for the grossest movie too. The lifetime collection of Godzilla Vs Kong was 46.58 million rupees. Bell Bottom has 15 days left at the box office.
Bell Bottom is directed by Ranjit Tiwari.
