Anil-Harsh Vardhan Kapoor’s ‘Thar’ did not live up to expectations

Evergreen film actor Anil Kapoor is fully committed to establishing the career of his son Harsh Vardhan Kapoor after marrying his daughter Sonam. This is why he himself has been trying unsuccessfully to make his son successful by producing movies and acting in them. Watch the latest father and son movie, AK vs AK. This movie released on Netflix was less to people’s liking than hype. But how can the father see the disappointed son in front of his eyes? That’s why Anil Kapoor has tried again. This time he has brought the movie ‘Thar’, in which actors like Harsh’s son Vardhan Kapoor, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Mukti Mohan and Satish Kaushik are in major roles with him. Directed by Raj Singh Chowdhary, the film is streaming on the OTT platform Netflix, whose story has been written by the director himself, while the dialogues have been written by a stalwart filmmaker and writer like Anurag Kashyap. Despite all this, the film has not been able to live up to the expectations of the audience. Once again, Anil’s efforts have been in vain.

‘The Dollar Trilogy’, ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’, ‘The Day of Rage’, ‘Death Rides a Horse’, ‘Five Men’s Army’, ‘The Mercenary’, performed in the spaghetti genre Italian western from ‘Thar’ Inspired by Hollywood movies like ‘Jongo’. In this genre, movies like ‘Sholay’, ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, ‘Khote Coins’ and ‘Loha’ have also been made in Bollywood. Like these movies, there is a town far from the city, surrounded by forests and mountains. It is a sand field. The resounding sounds of birds like eagles and hawks in the middle of the mountains are scary. In the dark night, when a car drives along a road made between sand fields stretching several kilometers away, with its headline lit, then curiosity arises in the mind. But as soon as it comes to the story and the acting of the actors, the matter gets complicated. I can’t believe how a movie can be so ineffective despite having such an experienced cast, writer, and director. Because big names make expectations high, but when a situation like “Naam Bade and Darshan Chhote” comes up, there is disappointment.

The movie ‘Thar’ is streaming on the OTT platform Netflix.

The story of the movie ‘Thar’ revolves around Inspector Surekha Singh (Anil Kapoor) and smuggler Siddharth (Harsh Vardhan Kapoor). The background of the film is woven in the year 1980, keeping Munabo, a town in Rajasthan, in the center. Located away from the city, Munabo remains very quiet. This is the reason why the life of the police stationed here remains monotonous. In the name of work, they have a responsibility to protect leaders. But one day, Munabo suddenly becomes restless. One after another, many murders take place. There is also a dacoidad incident in the village, in which the owner of the house and his wife are killed. A little far from home, in the dead of night, her daughter, who is celebrating with her lover, sees the whole incident with her naked eyes. As is the case everywhere, the police arrive on the scene long after the incident. Inspector Surekha Singh and Havildar Bhura (Satish Kaushik) become involved in investigating the incidents in the village. Surekha and Bhura are glad that an adventure has come in their boring life. That is why both of them diligently investigate the case.

Due to the presence of actors like Anil Kapoor and Satish Kaushik in this film, there was a buzz. After seeing the trailer from above, it seemed like the movie would be a good one. But after seeing the film it was understood that a film embellished with great actors need not always be good, as has been seen many times before. The real life of the film is its cinematography. Shreya Dubey has done an amazing job with her camera. The opening scene of the movie is very engaging. There are many such shots, after seeing which one reminds of Hollywood movies. But the film is not limited to going through the scenes. For this, a better story and strong performances from the actors are needed. The director is ultimately responsible for both. But Raj Singh Chaudhary, who came out from Anurag Kashyap camp, proves unsuccessful here despite all his efforts. The interesting thing is that the story has also been written by the director, in such a situation it was easy for him to put his story directly in the heart of the audience, but he has not been able to bring it to the screen properly.

Ajay Jayanti’s background score is better. The Aarti Bajaj edition is also fine. When it comes to acting from the cast, stalwarts like Anil Kapoor and Satish Kaushik have fallen victim to a weak plot and script; otherwise the jungle of both is so big that only they have the woman to make the movie a success. They are both very good friends in real life as well, so their chemistry shows on screen. Harsh Vardhan Kapoor has tried hard as always, but now he has to work very hard. In his performance, people try to find the shadow of Anil Kapoor, who is missing. He has talent, but he needs more to perfect it. Perhaps this is why his father is constantly making movies with him, hoping that his talent will definitely come out in one movie or another. Apart from these, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Mukti Mohan have honestly done their part. Overall, ‘Thar’ is an average movie. If you have nothing to do, watch it. Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
