Lucknow: Ashish Mishra, son of Union Interior Minister Ajay Mishra, has been arrested in connection with the murder of a farmer in Lakhimpur Kheri. He was arrested after 12 hours of questioning. Police said the defendant was not cooperating with the questioning.

Ashish Mishra has admitted that the vehicle that killed the farmers was his. But Ashish claims he was not in the vehicle. He has been charged with murder.

Ashish appeared before police for questioning on Saturday. The questioning took place at the Crime Branch office in Lakhimpur. Ashish has been charged with eight counts, including murder. The high court had criticized UP police for treating Ashish as a defendant in any murder case.

Ashish appeared before the police after the dramatic incident. Ashish was escorted to the office through the back door of the office with strong police warmth.
