He was arrested in Goa on Monday. NDTV reports, citing agency sources, that procedures are underway to arrest him and bring him to court.
The investigation team found evidence pointing to Sunil Yadav, the main defendant in the murder case. The investigation team had interrogated him several times before fleeing to Goa with his family. He was later arrested after being deported.
Former Minister YS Vivekananda Reddy was assassinated on March 15, 2019 in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. He was found dead in an unoccupied house. His family members firmly believed that his death was unnatural. Subsequently, the police registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.
Andhra Pradesh’s current chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, had accused the then ruling TDP of being involved in the murder and demanded an investigation by the IWC. The murdered Vivekananda Reddy is the paternal uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Later, Sunita Reddy, daughter of Vivekananda Reddy, came forward and asked why the case was not handed over to the CBI even after Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister in 2019. They also approached the court questioning the SIT.
Furthermore, they had alleged that another relative, Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy and YS Bhaskar Reddy were involved in the death. The High Court then ordered a CBI investigation.
