Bitter reality of transgender life seen in these movies before Taali web series

Transgender, that is, transgender is still seen with neglected eyes in society. Society has always been viewing and understanding them separately from themselves. Cinema is the mirror of society. But in later times the eunuchs were projected as criminals. However, with the changing times, when transsexuals changed their role in society, the cinema also began to present them in new characters. In many films, the eunuchs have been presented in very positive characters. A new web series will also come in this episode, whose name is ‘Tali’. In this 6-episode web series, Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen is in the lead role, who plays the role of a transgender.

The story of the web series ‘Tali’ is based on the life of transgender activist Gauri Sawant. Gauri is a social worker. She founded an organization called ‘Sakhi Char Chaugi’ in the year 2010. She has been working for the interests of destitute transgender people for the last few years. Through this NGO, Gauri helps transgender people who run away from home. Born on July 2, 1979 into a Marathi family in Pune, Gauri’s father was in the police and his mother was a housewife. When his family found out about him, they were shocked. Not only this, his father had cremated him while he was alive. At the age of 16, he left home with only 60 rupees. He reach Bombay. From there he joined an organization that did social work for eunuchs. Since then, she has been continuously associated with social work. The right to vote for the eunuchs has been achieved only thanks to them.

1. Movie- Shabnam Mausi

Yogesh Bhardwaj has directed the movie ‘Shabnam Mausi’ released in 2015. Ashutosh Rana played the role of Shabnam Mausi in this movie. The story of the film is about a eunuch named Shabnam (Ashutosh Rana), whom the eunuchs carry with them in his childhood. Shabnam wants to go to school but here other children humiliate her by calling her ‘hijra’. In such a situation, she Shabnam begins to dance and sing with her community. Her luck doesn’t favor her here either. When she doesn’t adopt the prostitution business spread here, she is then accused of killing her own mother’s ‘father’. To escape from the police, she reaches Anuppur, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, where circumstances become such that she wins the MLA election by staying in this town. Ashutosh has brought the character of Shabnam to life with her strong performance.

2. Movie- Tamannaah

The movie ‘Tamanna’ released in 1997 has been directed by veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. The film stars Paresh Rawal, Pooja Bhatt, Sharad Kapoor, and Manoj Bajpayee in major roles. Paresh Rawal plays the character of a transgender who raises a girl abandoned by her parents. For the first time, a positive image of transgender people was presented through this film. Paresh Rawal had taken the movie to a new level with his tremendous performance. He also got the National Award for this film. His character Tikku Kinnar was highly appreciated in the movie. Pooja Bhatt has also played brilliantly in the character of an unclaimed girl.

3. Cinema- Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui

The film ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’, made under the banner of Bhushan Kumar, Pragya Kapoor and Abhishek Nayar’s production company, was based on a sensitive topic like ‘sex change’. It had Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor in the lead roles. Artists like Gaurav Sharma, Gautam Sharma, Kanwaljit Singh, Anjan Srivastava and Abhishek Bajaj also play important roles. The film tackles a bold and taboo subject in a very sensitive way, with a rich mix of emotions. Written by Abhishek Kapoor, Supratik Sen and Tushar Paranjpe, the story is progressive, fresh and the need of the moment as it conveys an important message. Usually in Hindi movies we have seen a boy and a girl meet. There is romance between the two. Suddenly they both leave. In the end, the two meet. But after the romance in this film, a big question arises. Because the hero finds out that the hero is a trans girl. She has gone from a boy to a girl by changing sex. In such a situation, the ground slides under the hero’s feet. But whatever happens next is true love.

Horror comedy film ‘Lakshmi’ released in 2020 is directed by Raghava Lawrence. This is the Hindi remake of the Tamil movie ‘Kanchana’ released in 2011, which was directed by Raghava Lawrence. Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani, Ayesha Raza Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Sharad Kelkar have major roles in this movie. The film’s story revolves around a man who is possessed by the ghost of a transgender man. The film stars Akshay Kumar as Asif and Kiara Advani as Rashmi. Both live far from their homes after the interfaith marriage. After three years of marriage, Asif goes to his house. After going there, strange things begin to happen to him. The soul of a eunuch enters into him. That soul avenges the murder of him through Asif. The film depicts the cruel attitude of society towards eunuchs.
