Hours earlier, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had said that Savarkar had apologized to the British on Mahatma Gandhi’s instructions. He spoke at the book launch Veer Savarkar: The Man Who Could Have Prevented Partition.
Although Savarkar had the right to apologize, the apology was granted at Gandhiji’s suggestion that Savarkar should participate in the fight for freedom. Some call Savarkar a Nazi, but Rajnath Singh said he was a staunch nationalist. The OCI scoffed after the Union Minister’s words were discussed.
