Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani has donated Rs 315 crore. He has given such a huge donation to the institution in which he has studied. He has donated a major portion of his wealth to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. This is the largest donation given by any alumnus to his institution or college. He has announced to give donation on completion of 50 years of passing out from IIT Bombay. He gave this information by tweeting on social media.
Although this is not the first time, earlier he had donated Rs 85 crores to IIT Bombay. So far he has donated around Rs 400 crore to IIT Bombay. Significantly, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay in the year 1973. A donation of this size will be used to boost IIT Bombay’s infrastructure, encourage research in emerging areas of engineering and technology, and develop a new ecosystem for tech startups.

This organization has shaped my life and laid the foundation of my journey. This donation is much more than just a financial contribution. Who is Nandan Nilekani?
Nandan Nilekani was born on 2 July 1955 in Karnataka. His mother’s name was Durga and father’s name was Manohar Nilekani. His early studies took place in Bangalore. After his initial studies, he did engineering from IIT Bombay. He met Rohini during his studies. Later both of them got married. Nandan Nilekani has two children. He has been the co-founder of Infosys.
Their biggest success is Aadhaar card. He successfully implemented the scheme of providing Unique Identification Number or Unique Identification Number to every citizen of the country. The credit for the Aadhaar card scheme goes to Nandan Nilekani. In the year 2006, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the field of science and engineering. He holds a doctorate degree from the University of Toronto. In the year 2006, the World Economic Forum ranked him as the youngest entrepreneur among the top 20 global leaders.
