The girl fell into the well around 6 p.m. Thursday. The accident occurred while villagers were trying to rescue the boy who fell into the well. Police said the well collapsed due to the weight of people trying to rescue the boy.
The accident took place in Ganj Basoda, about 50 km from the district headquarters. The well, which is 50 feet deep, has about 20 feet of water, India Today reported, citing locals.
More than 19 people were reportedly rescued from the well. The bodies of four people have also been found. Meanwhile, 13 people are reported to have yet to be identified. Police said rescue operations were underway.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the accident. The Chief Minister told the media that the National Disaster Management Force and the State Disaster Management Force were continuing rescue operations in the area and that senior police officers had arrived on the scene.
