Dharna Farmers Parliament from today; Extreme caution in the capital

New Delhi: Farmers’ organizations protesting the Center’s controversial farm laws will start a dharna in Parliament starting today. The protest in Jantar Mantar will continue until the 13th of next month. Special vehicles will be used to transport farmers from Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur, where they are currently located.

The farmers will be escorted to Delhi by the police. The Delhi police have also set strict conditions for dharna. Every day 206 farmers participate in the dharna. The police have also ordered that they have an identity card in hand. The farmers will return to the protest sites at night. It is also a condition that the names of the farmers arriving at the Jantar Mantar are informed to the police in advance.

Approximately 200 activists from the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and six members of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangh can participate in the dharna. It is also proposed that an affidavit be submitted stating that only peaceful protests will take place. Farmers from various protest centers will depart for Jantar Mantar after reaching the Singh border.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened in the city amid growing protests near the ruling party’s headquarters. Police have also installed more CCTV cameras at protest sites.
