Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, produced by Ekta Kapoor, was the first serial on Indian television to introduce high-voltage mother-in-law-daughter-in-law drama. It has been 23 years for this serial, but one of its characters is still remembered by the audience. Tasnim Nerurkar (Tasnim Shaikh), who was last seen in the serial Anupama as Rakhi Dave, was also a part of the show as Mohini. Now in an exclusive conversation with our colleague ETimes TV, he recalled his time spent on the show and said that it proved to be an acting school for him.

Even today people message me for my character ‘Mohini’
So far, if any of my roles have received the most love, it was Mohini. Many people message me and say that I am still the same. I really enjoyed my time in ‘Because…’. There was a time when people used to remember you not by your real name but by your character name.
‘Kyunki’ taught me to be a serious actor
If you remember, there were many good actors in the show. My training as an actor started on the sets of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. There I was taught acting, my co-stars taught me how to get into the character. This show taught me to be a serious actor.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Was An Acting School For Me
I got to learn many great monologues from ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. Working on this show helped me grow as an actor. I have become an observer, you will never see me talking on the set. I am always with my script and observe. I keep thinking about my role. Every artist of the show learned something or the other from it. I am grateful to Balaji for giving me this opportunity to be a part of the biggest show of my career.
I am in touch with the family of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’.
I am still in touch with the Kyunki team. I keep talking to Arpara Mehta, Smriti Irani, Sudhaji, Shilpa, Gauri and Riva. My bonding with Ronit Roy is even more special, he is my brother. It is like one big family as we have spent many years together on the sets. We talk to each other regularly. Let’s make plans about the reunion.
I see the same enthusiasm in the young actors of ‘Anupamaa’
I see the same hunger to do good in the incomparable younger generation. Kinjal aka Nidhi Shah has improved herself a lot. I keep seeing how much the kids have grown since the first day of joining the show. Nidhi also speaks long monologues with confidence. He gets the job done in one or two takes.
