Even if theaters open, OTT platforms don’t want to lose their lead in Corona

The Corona epidemic may have had a negative effect on all businesses, but it is also true that new avenues have been created for many businesses as well. For OTT platforms trying to build a subscription base, the timing of the pandemic has proven to be the icing on the cake. Almost all OTT platforms achieved record blocking growth. They got the direct benefit of shutting everything down. Both waves of the pandemic are gone. Theaters are expected to open in almost all areas of the country, including the Mumbai circuit, before Diwali. Naturally, among the producers who were waiting for such a moment, there was a quarrel about the release in the theater. Look huh. The big producers are setting up an ambush to show films in the multiplexes themselves.

Since the opening of cinemas in a big way, the question was, how will over the top (OTT) platforms compete with cinemas and television in the changed environment? The OTT release schedules that have come up so far clearly indicate that we are not in the mood to lose the gains we have made in the epidemic. Some pretty good content and aggressive form will present a tough challenge in front of television and theaters. Big OTT players have also made the same strategy, as theaters are seen planning a release at the holiday event. From Dussehra itself, there will be a fight between OTT and Theaters to attract the audience. Many things can also go in favor of OTT. Right now due to the closure of the Mumbai circuit, the big Bollywood producers are not seen bringing big movies on Dussehra weekend. But from Deepawali, the big serial movies will be released in theaters.

New content about OTT in Dussehra-Deepawali

The box office schedule for the next six months has been revealed. Four to five great films are in the pipeline in a month or so. Many of these films also collide with each other. Here, OTT will start to see a glut of new content from Dussehra herself. Movies and web shows will air from Dussehra through Diwali weekend. Vicky Kaushal’s period drama Sardar Udham will hit Amazon Prime Video on October 16 under the direction of Shoojit Sircar. Previously, Disney Plus Hotstar will also stream Hum Do Hamari Do on October 11. Rajkumar Rao and Kriti Sanon’s couple will be seen entertaining the audience in the comedy-drama. Vidyut Jammwal’s action actor “Sanak” will also air on Disney starting October 15.

In view of Dussehra, G5 has also planned the release schedule. The sports drama starring Taapsee Pannu, Rashmi Rocket, will air on Zee5 starting October 15. Where will Netflix be behind? The fourth season of the much-loved show “Little Things” on Dussehra weekend will air from October 15th. Many famous foreign shows on Netflix will also be released from mid-October. Many more OTT players are also bringing shows and movies with the holiday season in mind. There hasn’t been a full-scale streaming content streaming announcement yet. Amazon, Disney, and Netflix have been continuously offering new content on their platforms for the past few months. These also include movies. The funny thing is that they are also liking them a lot. It is clear that OTT is not going to leave the field.

How OTT can narrow or close the road to theaters?

The preparations for OTT platforms show that in the changed environment after the epidemic, OTT content should be closed to theaters. It is not accidental either. It is not necessary to explain why OTT platforms grew. In the last year and a half, most people entered OTT due to the compulsion of fresh content in the captive. Now that the shutdown effect seems to be slowly ending entirely, keeping the audience with you is OTT platforms’ biggest challenge.

Perhaps this is the reason why preparations for the future are visible. By virtue of this, agreements are being made with large manufacturers and production houses. Big stars are being added to the platforms. Recently, there were also reports that Amazon Prime Video had given Yash Raj Campus a large amount of Rs 400 million for streaming movies, which Aditya Chopra rejected. Many major films from the Yash Raj campus are awaiting release. These include movies like Bunty Aur Babli 2, Shamshera, Prithviraj, Jayeshbhai Jordaar. Yash Raj was also offered by other OTT platforms. In the coming months, stars like Ajay Devgan and Hrithik Roshan will appear on the web series. Shahrukh has also settled on a digital debut. His campaign with Disney hasn’t raised the curtain, but there are signs of his coming digital.

Apart from Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Voot, Sony Liv, G5, MX Player are the big OTT OTT streaming platforms in the country. All platforms have grown from 10 to 47% in recent months. India is the fastest growing OTT market in the world. A report from a few months ago quoted BCG as saying that by 2023 the total value would reach $ 5 billion. It’s definitely tough for OTT, but the biggest pressure will only be in theaters. And this pressure is due to OTT platforms that have changed the view of the audience.

If there is good content available at home, why would anyone want to go to the movie theater?
