The assassinated Ranjit Singh was a staunch supporter of Dera Sacha Sauda’s boss, Ram Rahim Singh. He was assassinated on July 10, 2002. Subsequently, the IWC took over the investigation and registered an FIR on December 3, 2003. Jagjit Singh, Ranjit Singh’s son, has filed a complaint about the incident.
Earlier this week, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had rejected a petition requesting the transfer of the murder trial of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh from an IWC court in Panchkula to another IWC court.

The IWC special court in Panchkula found him guilty. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and five other defendants have been convicted of murder under Section 302 of the IPC. His sentence will be announced on October 12.
Ram Rahim Singh has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing women in an ashram. Ram Riham has been arrested in connection with the rape of a female follower 19 years ago at the Dera Ashram in Sirsa, Haryana. He was convicted in August 2017 by a special court of the IWC in Panchkula.

In addition to various cases of torture, there are also murder cases against Gurmeet. The information about torture emerged through a silence received by the President of the Supreme Court of Justice. As part of this, the high courts of Punjab and Haryana asked the IWC in 2002 to bring a case against Ram Rahim Singh.
