In 2011, Shahrukh Khan, who was called the King Khan of Bollywood, brought a movie. Whose name was ‘Ra One’. For the first time such high quality VFX scenes were used in a Bollywood film. It was said that most of the money for this Rs 130-150 crore budgeted film was spent on visual effects and technical aspects alone. Rajinikanth also had a cameo in the movie ‘Ra One’ with stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal. In simple words, this movie ‘Ra One’, adorned with rich visual effects and stars, could not achieve any record at the box office. That is why the visual effects-rich movie ‘Ra One’ has been talked about here. So, based on the intense VFX scene used in the movie ‘Brahmastra’, those who declared it a box office hit would have a bit of an understanding of film history.
Well that year was second, following the logic of this year second hai, Bollywood filmmaker Ayan Mukerji brought his 11 years of hard work to the cinema screen in the form of the film ‘Brahmastra’. Only after the release of the movie trailer did it become known that visual effects have been used tremendously in ‘Brahmastra’. And, the film has also resisted the use of VFX. But, such use of VFX has been seen in many movies before this one. In a nutshell, when VFX has been used extensively in movies like Hollywood’s Avatar, Marvel Cinematic Universe, and DC Universe, as well as South Cinema’s Bahubali and RRR. So no one will start praising Brahmastra just because this is the first time in Bollywood that so many visual effects are used.
Which means that all the good reviews that are being given about the movie are based solely on its VFX. Ayan Mukerji is said to have made this movie with a lot of hard work. That is why he should be praised. But, my question is why?
Due to the presence of stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, the public cannot leave their minds at home.
Well, Ayan Mukerji has made a movie with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, changing the mythology in their own way. But, it will be called a Bollywood experiment. It is not necessary that every movie becomes a hit, superhit or blockbuster. That too just based on VFX. Brother,… to bring people to theaters in a movie, in addition to VFX, you also need story, action scenes, dialogue. But, ‘Brahmastra’ has VFX to fulfill all these things, doesn’t it? And the most important thing is that the person who watches the movie ‘Brahmastra’ is free to compare it with any movie, let Hollywood.
Now, due to the presence of stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, the audience cannot leave their minds at home. So it can’t be compared to Avatar, Thor: Love and Thunder, Doctor Strange: The Madness of the Multiverse. Marvel comics come from the time when comic book superheroes weren’t even born in India. And, legally speaking, Indian comic book superheroes were also inspired by the same Marvel and DC comics. By the way, Doctor Strange: The Madness of the Multiverse also had great visuals. He didn’t even get 10 percent in the movie ‘Brahmastra.’ This movie was truly a laser show.
How can the audience associate with the visuals instead of the story?
If we talk about the history, then it seems that the plot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ‘X-Men’ has been combined with the history of weapons taken from mythology. Where there are different people with mutant powers. In the role of Guru ji, Amitabh Bachchan is seen as Professor Charles Xavier from X-Man. Joe also asks Wolverine to stay with him to tell him his story. As Amitabh Bachchan asks Shiva to tell Ranbir Kapoor about him. The ashram shown in the movie ‘Brahmastra’ also resembles the X-Men professor’s school for gifted children. The only difference is that there is a significant number of elderly people along with children.
By the way, the South Cinema movie ‘Karthikeya 2’ which was released a few days ago was also based on a mythological story related to Lord Krishna. VFX is weak in this movie. But, despite this, ‘Karthikeya 2’ also performed well in the Hindi belt. And, the reason for this was the story of the movie ‘Karthikeya 2’. The film advances in one sequence. There is also a heroine entrance in the film. But, the whole romance with her has been summed up in a few songs. The rest of the film is seen flowing like water making its way. There is an overdose of showing chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the movie ‘Brahmastra’. It seems that the first dose did not work, so take the second dose. If that doesn’t work, get a booster dose.
‘Brahmastra’ is a purely masala Bollywood film. In which Karan Johar’s money is invested, then the romance cannot be put aside. The whole movie is based on the love of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. And, in the end, it is also revealed that even ‘Brahmastra’ bows to the power of love. And, finally, this power of love was also revealed. By the way, I will not talk about logic at all. Because, according to him, no one could stop Brahmastra.
How to make viewers digest VFX in the name of action?
Now speaking of action scenes, a car chase is shown in the movie. Which is called a very good sequence. But why not compare this car chase to Hollywood movies like ‘Fast and Furious’ and ‘Need for Speed’? In every action scene in this movie, VFX goes by the name ‘Action’. The filmmaker has given the entire contract to viewers to digest the action sequences of ‘Brahmastra’. But how will the public digest this cheap VFX? When the best work this has been seen in Hollywood movies. By the way, there are also action scenes in ‘Karthikeya 2’ that seem absolutely childish. But, when the story is tight, those little mistakes don’t matter. Whereas, in the name of the story in ‘Brahmastra’, only the weapons have information about all the names. And the movie is supposed to become a box office hit only after showing them very well through VFX.
Ranbir Kapoor continued on ‘tours’ throughout the film
Speaking of dialogues, Alia Bhatt, who became Isha, calls Ranbir Kapoor’s next “vision”, that is, glimpses of the future, as “tour”. How can a dialogue writer make such a trivial mistake? While he is writing dialogue for a movie like ‘Brahmastra’. Which is done after 11 years of research. Well, from the beginning of the movie until some time after the intermission, Ranbir Kapoor keeps visiting us. At the same time, Alia Bhatt’s character has asked Ranbir Kapoor four times when he arrives in Varanasi: “Who are you?” Because, before the second half, Ranbir Kapoor himself doesn’t know ‘who is he?’ If this isn’t history’s fault, then what is?
