Johnson & Johnson Retreats; Will there be no vaccine in India?

Johnson & Johnson, a US company, has withdrawn its application for approval of the Kovid vaccine for emergency use in India. Sources close to India’s Comptroller General for Drugs said the company has not clarified the reason for withdrawing the permit application.

The company announced at a meeting of the Central Drug Standards Control Organization (CDSCO) on July 29 that it was withdrawing its proposal.

Johnson & Johnson, a US company, said in April that it had applied for permission for the clinical study of Jansen Kovid wax in India.

On July 31, Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine was approved for immediate use. At the same time, the vaccine from the companies Pfizer and Modena was approved.

The company claimed that its vaccine was strongly resistant to the Delta virus and other outbreaks. Additionally, the company claims the door is 85 percent effective and can reduce the risk of miscarriage and death, according to various media reports.

More than 100 people who received the Johnson & Johnson’s Johnson vaccine in the US have reported cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a rare disease that affects the nervous system. The cases were reported mainly in men under 50 years of age.

There are currently four approved vaccines in India. The four vaccines are Kovichield, Kovacin, Sputnik V, and Modena.

However, company officials have officially responded to the incident by withdrawing the request to conduct the study, as India’s Comptroller General of Medicines (DGCI) has suggested that there is no need for clinical trials of the Kovid-19 vaccines. in India.

He said he was awaiting talks with the Indian government and was investigating how to accelerate the Johnson & Johnson Kovid-19 vaccine in India.
