Kathmandu Connection 2 Review: Strong Performance From The Cast Has Tied The Series!

23 years ago, on December 24, 1999, Indian Airlines flight IC 814 was hijacked by Pakistani terrorists. This ship was coming to India from Kathmandu. But the hijackers hijacked the terrorist ship and took it to Afghanistan. After that, the Government of India was demanded to release 36 terrorists and US$200 million. Despite many efforts, the Government of India had to bow down to the terrorists. Following this, feared terrorists like Maulana Masood Azhar, Ahmed Zargar and Sheikh Ahmed Umar Saeed had to be released. With this incident begins the web series ‘Kathmandu Connection 2’, which is being broadcast on the OTT platform Sony Liv. In this series, the connection between the plane hijacking, the agreement between India and Pakistan, the peace conference and the attack on the country’s sovereignty has been presented in the best way.

In the web series ‘Kathmandu Connection 2’ directed by Sachin Pathak, actors like Amit Sial, Anshuman Pushkar, Harleen Sethi, Aksha Pardasani, Prashant Narayanan, Anurag Arora, Gopal Dutt and Zakir Hussain play major roles. Last year the first season of this series premiered, which was very much liked by the audience. In the midst of their excellent story, Amit Sial and Anshuman Pushkar got married with their great performance. This is the reason why people were eagerly awaiting the second season of this series. In the new season too, both actors have given excellent performances. But the story seems to be drawn so it gets boring in many places. However, the director has prevented it from becoming cumbersome by reducing the number and length of the episodes. The suspense and excitement in the last two episodes are tremendous, which makes them worth watching.

The story of the web series ‘Kathmandu Connection 2’ is connected with the first season. Some new characters have also been included this time, in which Wajid Khan (Prashant Narayan) is the main one. Shivani Bhatnagar (Aksh Pardasani) works for a media house in London. Sunny Sharma (Anshuman Pushkar) is in jail. Delhi Police Inspector Samar Kaushik (Amit Sial) has been sacked on charges of underworld connections, after which he runs a restaurant. Here, many terrorists housed in Indian jails are rescued by hijacking planes. Masood, the mastermind behind many terrorist attacks, is also included in this. Along with Masood Wajid, he is planning a big attack in India. The goal of him is to somehow stop the peace deal and peace conference between India and Pakistan. To do this, both make a great conspiracy together.

An Indian journalist becomes aware of Masood and Wajid’s conspiracy. He informs about this to Shivani Bhatnagar (Aksha Pardasani) sitting in London. He also gives some evidence related to it. Meanwhile, some people kill that journalist. Following this, Shivani reaches India and meets Sunny in Tihar jail. With her help, he travels to Kathmandu, Nepal, where he tries to uncover the terrorist plot. Here, Inspector Samar Kaushik (Amit Sial) finds out about Shivani and Sunny’s meeting and understands that something big is about to happen. He arrives in Kathmandu along with his colleague Shravan Mishra (Anurag Arora) from the Delhi Police. Shivani is kidnapped there by Wajid’s men. As soon as he gets information about this, Sunny escapes from jail and reaches Kathmandu. But Shivani is killed in a bomb blast.

To avenge Shivani’s death, Sunny calls on her archenemy Wajid. To make her his, Wajid has her man in Nepal killed by Sunny, who is accused of Shivani’s murder. Following this, Wajid calls him in Dubai and asks him to work with him. Sunny arrives at his house. But Wajid’s girlfriend tells Sunny the truth about her. On the other hand, with the help of Sunny, Samar kills two terrorists in Agra and thwarts the plan to bomb a peace conference there. The most surprising thing here is why both Sunny and Sarthak help each other after being enemies. Will Sunny be able to kill Wajid? Can the conspiracy of the major terrorist incident brewing in India be revealed? To answer all these questions, you have to watch the web series.

This six episode web series written by Siddharth Mishra is basically based on the Indo-Pak dispute and terrorism. In this, many parallel stories are happening simultaneously. Many incidents are shown occurring simultaneously on the journey from Kathmandu to Dubai and Agra. Because of this, confusion also occurs in many places. But the story moves quickly and some shocking unexpected twists keep you seated throughout. Every episode is intense. It is full of drama and action. Especially the climax is such that it forces one to watch with bated breath. Along with this, the scope of the third season has also been left. It looks like the third season is going to be more exciting. Along with this, all the actors have given great performances which is the USP of this series. All the actors are engrossed, who seem completely absorbed in their respective characters.

Prashant Narayanan’s character Wajid is inspired by the terrorist and gangster Don Dawood Ibrahim. His character shows the power of a man who can go to any length to destroy India. Prashant Narayanan is known for playing such negative roles. He has proven his worth in this series. Aksha Pardasani and Anshuman Pushkar have recreated their former characters Shivani and Sunny. Anshuman, who was seen as a romantic hero in the last season, is seen doing stunts like an action star in this season. Amit Sial has performed tremendously in the role of Police Inspector Samar Kaushik. He dominates from the first to the last episode. His dialogue delivery style is different. Harleen Sethi, Anurag Arora, Gopal Dutt, and Zakir Hussain have also done a great job in their respective roles.

Overall, it can be said that the ‘Kathmandu Connection’ web series is not as exciting as its first season, but it is better as a standalone series. If you like web series from crime thriller category then you can watch ‘Kathmandu Connection 2’ on Sony Liv OTT platform.
