By Thomas Joseph

This is good news after a long wait. The country will begin vaccinating children next month. Vaccines against Kovid, both locally and externally, have been used in the country for months, but have not yet been administered to children under 18 years of age. The Health Minister spoke at a high-level BJP meeting attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom experts warned that Kovid’s third wave would affect children the most. There were concerns about how to deal with abused children. The advent of the vaccine seems to be the answer

Children and Kovid

In all countries of the world, the number of children affected by covid is very low. According to UNICEF, the World Health Organization and the IMA, children under the age of 20 account for only 13 percent of the 91 million cases reported in 101 countries, according to UNICEF. That is, 12 million. Of that, 68 percent are between the ages of 10 and 19. Children under the age of nine were affected by 32 percent. The death rate is only 0.3 percent. Leading international medical journal The Lancet Magazine has found that “living with children ages 11 to 17 will increase the risk of developing covid by 18-30% in others.” This means that children are more likely to be infected with the virus, even if they are less dangerous. More than 20 countries have started vaccinating children. Countries like France, Italy and Hungary are already vaccinating children. Pfizer wax is the most widely used. There is strong opposition to mass vaccination of children in the UK. According to a Reuters report on June 1, the Modena and Pfizer vaccines are already being tested in children between the ages of five and 12 in the United States, Canada and EU countries. Pfizer received permission in the US In addition, China has urgently approved the use of the Zinovac vaccine in children older than three years. Of the total population of India, up to 14 million rupees are between the ages of 12 and 18. It is not such a small number. Previously, the head of the National Committee of Experts on Vaccines, Dr. NK Aurora had announced that the vaccine for children would arrive in September. At that time it was said that Sydus would pay for the vaccine. AIDS chief Randeep Guleria said Bharat Biotech’s Kovacs was in the final stages of testing the vaccine for children, along with the Sikov-D vaccine from the Ahmedabad-based company Sydos Cadila. In an interview with the ANI news agency, Gularia’s response was that she was waiting to receive the report of the final phase trials being carried out by Kovacsin, led by the Comptroller General of Drugs of India (DCGI). Currently, both vaccines are available in India for youth ages 12-18. The second consideration is the Cicov-D vaccine. However, the Pfizer vaccine is under comprehensive consideration in India.

Is it available to all children?

The central government has not yet officially issued guidelines for children to receive the vaccine. According to the government, the minimum age for vaccination is still above 18 years. However, before the third wave, the government will complete all phase tests and issue a new guideline. If we take the number of 12-18 year olds in India, they will need a total of about 26 million doses of vaccine. That is why there must be equality in the distribution of vaccines ”, said VK Paul, member of the Judicial Commission. According to the official website of the Union Ministry of Health, so far 441,912,395 doses of the vaccine have been administered in the country. ****
