Mansouk was assigned the task after replacing Dr. Harsh Vardhan. Harsh Vardhan lost his position amid criticism that the central government was failing in its defense of Kovid. Mansukh is Harsh Vardhan’s successor. Previously, Mansukh had made headlines through controversial tweets. One of the tweets said that Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the nation.

Mansukh is a member of the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. He was Minister of State for Ports, Waterways and Navigation. Mansouk has been honored by UNICEF for his contributions to women’s menstrual hygiene. He has a Masters in Political Science from Bhavnagar University.
