- UP police did not allow Rahul to travel in his own car
- Priyanka was released
- Dispute at the airport
Rahul Gandhi has come to Lucknow to visit Lakhimpur Kheri. Although he was allowed to disembark at the airport, officials did not allow him to go in the vehicle suggested by Rahul. Rahul stabbed and protested the attitude of the officials.
“Who are you to organize transportation for me? I have to travel in my car.” He told officials who surrounded Rahul.
Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Channi, and the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Bhagal. While the leaders remained at the airport, the police cordoned off the area.
“I am not allowed to leave the airport. What kind of permit is this? See the UP government permit status. I have to leave the airport. But I am not allowed. You have to show this scene correctly.” Rahul told reporters.
“Come here willing to spend ten or twenty or as many days as you can.” Rahul said. Rahul’s response comes after the illegal detention of his sister Priyanka while visiting Lakhimpur Kheri. Priyanka Gandhi has been in UP police custody since Monday.
The UP government has given Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and three others permission to visit the families of farmers killed during Sunday’s protests. Farmers protested against the visit of Union Minister Ajay Mishra.
Congress wants Mishra removed from ministry. The farmers alleged that the vehicle was driven by Ajay Mishra’s son, Ashish Mishra. UP police had previously detained opposition leaders who were preparing to go to Lakhimpur Kheri. On Tuesday, Priyanka Gandhi made it clear that she was being illegally detained.
Previously, Rahul Gandhi had said that the attack on the farmers was a planned attack. India had democracy. But now it is dictatorial. He said that until yesterday, politicians were not allowed to enter Uttar Pradesh.
