UP police arrested AICC Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi 30 hours after she was taken into custody. He was arrested on charges of attempting to alter law and order. In addition to Priyanka, there have been cases against Deepender Singh Hooda and ten other congressional leaders, including Uttar Pradesh PCC Chairman Ajay Kumar Lallu.

The boarding house where Priyanka Gandhi is staying is reported to be turned into a temporary jail. Priyanka was heading to Lakhimpur on foot to visit the families of the murdered farmers. They were stopped by UP police on the way.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bagel, who was visiting Priyanka, was detained by UP police at Lucknow airport. Bagal was stabbed at Lucknow airport in protest.

He later tweeted that he was detained outside the airport without any warrant. Photographs of protesters sitting in front of the airport have also been released.

At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the opposition. The Prime Minister claimed that the people of Uttar Pradesh had begged previous governments for housing and that the BJP government had implemented what they had not done.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Uttar Pradesh amid attacks and protests in Lakhimpur Kheri. But the prime minister did not respond to a request for comment.
