The ‘Godfather’ of Chiranjeevi and Salman failing to find buyers, is stardom a sign that it is over?

After the arrival of Over the Top Services, that is, OTT, the biggest change has been seen in the content of the cinema. Filmmakers have become more cautious about content than before. The main reason for this is that now the audience has become very strict with the content. The options have become so many that the audience no longer sees anything by force. If not, there was a time when Bollywood served up any rubbish, movies kept going with the help of superstar stardom. But now it is not like that.

Now, whether it’s Salman, Shahrukh and Aamir Khan or Akshay Kumar, movies from all the big stars are getting hit at the box office due to poor content. On the other hand, if there is power in the content, then that movie is also going to be a super hit, which was not hyped up and there are no superstars in it. For example, you can watch Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’. It simply means to say that now the movie is getting hit not for its stardom but for its content.

For Chiranjeevi’s ‘The Godfather’ movie, Salman is not proving anything.

If this doesn’t happen, then Chiranjeevi, who is called the mega star of South, won’t even get a buyer for her next movie ‘The Godfather’. The film’s release date has been set for October 5. But the condition is that so far it does not have any distributor. In such a situation, looking at the current situation, it seems that the release of the film will be extended. For a superstar like Chiranjeevi, this is nothing short of an insult. This is the first time in her 40-year career that she has struggled to find distributors for her film. Otherwise, her movies used to sell out before they were made. Dealers used to queue.

It is said that after Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan’s movie ‘Acharya’ failed at the box office, his stardom began to be underestimated. The film ‘Acharya’, released on 29th April 2022, was produced with a mega budget of Rs 140 crore. But after the release, the film had a box office gross of only Rs 74 crore. Because of this, both the filmmakers and the distributors of the film had to suffer a lot. To save the loss makers, Chiranjeevi had also returned half of his fee, but even this could not make up for the loss. This is why dealers are afraid. Anyway, the success rate of remake movies is low.

Actually, ‘God Father’ is the Telugu and Hindi remake of the Malayalam movie ‘Lucifer’. It stars superstar Mohanlal in the title role. Chiranjeevi plays the role of Mohanlal in the new version. Bollywood star Salman Khan will also play a major role in this movie. Salman will play Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran. Apart from these, Nayantara, Puri Jagannath and Satyadev Kancharan also have important roles. The film is directed by Mohan Raja who specializes in remake films. The teaser for the movie was recently released. In this the first glimpse of the characters of Chiranjeevi and Salman Khan has been shown. Salman is going to debut in Telugu cinema through ‘God Father’.

Salman Khan’s voice echoes in the film’s trailer: “Looks like a very long planning is going on. Don’t forget this little brother of yours. Say, I’ll come now.” In response, Chiranjeevi says, “My brother, await my instructions.” After this, Salman is seen sitting on the superbike shooting bullets. In the last scene of the teaser, Chiranjeevi and Salman are seen sitting together in a jeep. From the union of both stars, it was speculated that the audience of Hindi and Telugu cinema could be courted at the same time. But now that the film is not only getting distributors, it can also be said here that Salman Khan has not proven to be a punishment for Chiranjeevi.

Regardless, all of Bollywood, including Salman Khan, is struggling these days. For a long time, none of his movies have been big box office hits. For the past two years, his two main films ‘Antim – The Final Truth’ and ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ have been released. But both films have performed poorly at the box office. The film ‘Antim – The Final Truth’, made at a cost of Rs 40 crore, had barely recouped its cost by earning Rs 40 crore. At the same time, the movie ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’, which was made with a budget of Rs 100 crore, turned out to be a disaster at the box office grossing Rs 18 crore. Salman Khan still hasn’t recovered from the scare of these two movies.
