Twitter removes wrong map of India

New Delhi: Twitter removed the map of India without Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Twitter’s move comes after a controversy over fake maps. Twitter did not say why Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were not included on the map. The erroneous map of India that appeared in the ‘Tweet Life’ section was removed on Monday night.

The Central Government has made it clear that misuse of the country’s map is a serious crime and action will be taken. This is a crime punishable by a fine or up to seven years in prison under TI Law 69A.

This is the second time that Twitter has misrepresented the map. The map was published with Leh, Jammu and Kashmir as part of China. The latest controversy comes amid an ongoing controversy over compliance with the new digital rules.
