The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started the process of demolishing a portion of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan’s waiting room for road widening. The BMC has given notice to the Bachchan family to widen the road, saying that they will acquire a small part of the waiting bungalow to widen Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg. The BMC has also directed the Mumbai Suburban Collector City Survey officials to demarcate the specific portion of the bungalow required for the road widening project. Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg connects Chandan Cinema area to Incon Temple and Link Road. According to the BMC, the wall of Bachchan’s bungalow will be demolished to widen the road.

Talking to news agency ANI, lawyer Tulip Brian Miranda said, “BMC had issued notice to Amitabh Bachchan in 2017 under the road widening policy. The wall of the plot adjoining Bachchan’s bungalow was demolished and a drain was made. But Bachchan’s house Was left.’

“I wrote a letter to BMC in February 2021. Since I did not get any response, I spoke to the ward officer over telephone and also wrote a letter to the commissioner. However I did not get any reply. This is a very urgent project because Mumbai has two schools, a hospital, an ISKCON temple and a memorial. The road widening work was suddenly halted because of Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow.

‘I started getting a follow-up in February. “When I said that I would go to the Lokayukta if any specific order was not followed, the work resumed and I am happy with it,” the prosecutor said.
