Why Bollywood doesn’t like sci-fi movies, while Hrithik made ‘Indian superhero’ out of them

Hrithik Roshan’s debut as a superhero was 15 years ago through the home-produced film “Koi Mil Gaya.” It was a wonderful movie that was directed by his father, Rakesh Roshan, himself. The emotional story of Rohit, a retarded child between aliens and science, won the hearts of the audience. Preity Zinta was in front of Hrithik. Koi Mil Gaya was a musical blockbuster of its time. The film was so successful that Rakesh Roshan did two more parts with his son: Krish and Krish 3. Both parts were also successful and Bollywood got its sci-fi franchise. Along with this, Hrithik became an Indian superhero. Hrithik’s Krrish 3 with Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut arrived in the year 2013. Hrithik has also announced Krrish 4.

By the way, Rakesh Roshan wanted to work on the fourth part of Koi Mil Gaya, that is, Krrish 4 only after the action thriller “War”. But first the fight against cancer and then the wave of the epidemic corona ruined his plans. Life seems to come out of the pandemic. The rest of the details are not up front, but Hrithik has given a clear indication that he is going to do Krrish 4 through a video. I hope that the “traditional” audience of Hindi cinema will see another great science fiction story that interests them.

The specialty of the Hrithik franchise is that despite being a sci-fi movie, a lot of attention was paid to testing the Bollywood audience. There is a superhero in the movie, but his mother is scared. Live hidden. He has a girlfriend and the enemy of his family and humanity is the villain. Along with the action romance, there is also dancing and singing and lots of great music. These are the characteristics that separate Bollywood science fiction from the world on this subject. There is a lot of work on science fiction in Hollywood or other countries, but other things of human sentimentality do not take on much importance in its history as in Bollywood.

Looking at Bollywood sci-fi movies, anyone who tried to break with the formula was unsuccessful. Even if the projects have been big budget or starcast. Filmmakers have been avoiding bringing up the subject. But the Hrithik franchise can also be credited with breaking the perception of sci-fi movies through entertainment and success. Rakesh Roshan always worked on science fiction history by taking the pulse of the audience. Every time I got excellent results.

Ra. One (2011)

Shahrukh Khan’s starring film Kareena Kapoor was much discussed. It was led by Anubhav Sinha. The story of the film is about a game developer (Shahrukh Khan) who creates a game in which the villain is more powerful than the hero. After the game’s release, there is a lot of appreciation, but because of Shahrukh’s son, the villain leaves the game and enters the real world. Shahrukh is killed by the villain to save his son. After this, the hero of the game also comes to the real world and saves the wife of the game developer (Kareena Kapoor) and the children from the hands of the villain. The movie was made on a big budget. But people didn’t really like Shahrukh Khan’s superhero avatar at the box office. The film was a medium box office success.

Apart from these movies, a few other sci-fi movies like Love Story 2050, Carbon: The Story of Tomorrow, and Aa Dekhe Zara were made, but they failed to impress the audience and were unlucky at the box office.
