Going to the temple and worshiping is a long way off. In many places, touching pickles is not allowed during menstruation. People believe that the pickle rots because of this. In Nepal, women are kicked out of the house when they are menstruating. Even in America, women are considered impure during this time. In Israel, when a girl gets her period for the first time, they slap her on the cheeks. This is done so that the girl looks beautiful.
