Yashpal Sharma got a place in the Indian team only on the advice of Dilip Kumar. Yashpal Sharma said that he correctly remembered that Dilip Kumar had recommended his name to Rajsingh Dungarpur. After that Yashpal Sharma got a chance to play in the team and his life changed.

Yashpal Sharma scored 1606 runs in 37 Tests for India. His highest score was 140 and his average was 33.45. In ODI cricket, Yashpal Sharma scored 883 runs in 42 matches at an average of 28.42.
